South Central Oregon Telecommunications Consortium
The SCOT Consortium had its genesis in the telecommunications committee of the Klamath County Chamber of Commerce. That
group successfully lobbied U.S. West Communications to install a fiber optic line from Klamath Falls to Ashland. Later, many of the same
participants formed Klamath County Telecommunications Consortium and a similar consortium was formed in Lake County to
create the Lakeview Cyber Outpost. The SCOT Consortium
brings together these groups. The Consortium is working with several major grants to bring teleconferencing capability and telecenter access points
to remote locations across
our area, to create a major telecenter in Klamath Falls, and generally encourage the use and development of high speed telecommunications
technology. Key committees include: Web Site Development (responsible for this site), Telecenter Access Point Equipment and Funding,
Temporary Telecenter Site, and Wide Area Networks.

Community Action Teams
The 1990 Farm Bill created the opportunity for the U.S.D.A. Forest Service to work with rural communities. Communities are assisted upon request and all work is done in close cooperation with the Board of County Commissioners. There are now eight Community Action Teams in
Klamath County: Crescent Lake Junction, Crescent/Gilchrist, Chemult, Central Klamath County (Chiloquin-Fort Klamath Area),
Sprague River-Beatty, Bly, Bonanza Area, and Rocky Point. The following links describe a few of their projects.
