Business Development

KCEDA works closely with Southern Oregon Women's Access to Credit, Inc (SOWAC) and the South Central Oregon Economic Development District to help build and finance local businesses. The program includes:

  • Business Plan Development Training - Training classes include Business Readiness, to assess the feasibility of your concept, and Planning and Managing Your Small Business to help you research and write your business plan and learn about financing and basic business operations.
  • A Mentoring Program - This program pairs each graduate of the training program with a successful business person. You will work with your mentor for six months as you strengthen your business.
  • A Loan Program - Helps finance your business plan and includes ongoing counseling.

Scholarships are available for this program!

Grants and Loans

KCEDA also works closely with and facilitates the South Central Oregon Regional Investment Board. In 2000, for example, the Board received $1,165,000 in Oregon State lottery proceeds from the Oregon Economic and Community Development Department. The Board makes these funds available as grants and loans to projects in Klamath County and Lake County that demonstrate, in measurable terms, achievement of regional economic and community development goals. Contact us for information that will help you develop a good project. Competition for these funds is keen - only the best projects are funded.
